I was born in 1974 in Barcelona, Spain. After completing my basic education in Saint Ignatius School (jesuits),
I enrolled the Barcelona School of Computer Science, at Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya. My graduation report
was on implementing a networked, stochastic, procedural ray tracer. It was awarded an A with honors.
Thanks to that, I got a part-time job in the Computer Graphics Section at UPC as a research assistant, working on networked
collaborative environments. I mainly coded distributed graphical applications and GUIs. I stood at UPC for about 18 months,
and began giving lectures on real-time graphics for games and interface design.
From there I moved to La Salle School of Multimedia Engineering, where I worked four years as a professor and
course organizer of the Computer Game Programming subject. While at La Salle, I was offered a position at Pompeu Fabra
university as co-organizer of Spain's first Master's Degree in Video Game Creation, and that's where I am currently staying.
We have also organized a research group on interactive technologies, with emphasis on AI and graphics.
Along the years, I have been involved in a variety of other projects. I was founder and member of the board
of Parfumsnet, one of the first e-commerce sites in Spain. After that one, I enrolled Secretariaplus, a vertical portal
reaching the community of office assistants. I was the lead software architect with a team of around 15-20 technical personnel
in 5 countries. I haven't been involved in any other Internet projects since then.
In the year 2000, I founded Novarama, an independent game studio in Barcelona, Spain. We focus on creating innovative games
for the PC/XBox platform, and are now working on our first title.
I have published three books in Spain and South America. In fact, I was probably the first Spanish author to do a manual on how
to use the Internet/WWW. Right now, I'm working wih a major world-wide publisher on a new book which should hit shelves early 2003.
I have published over 40 articles, most of them either in Byte Magazine Spain, Game Developer Magazine, or the Gamasutra portal.
You should definitely check them out here.
Years ago I worked as a course reviewer for Siggraph. I'm a Siggraph frequent attendee, but I can also be spotted at the Game Developer's
Conference. Finally, I love teaching, thinking of useful applications to multimedia technology, good music and I never say no to any travel!.
