For open positions at Novarama, please include a cover letter, your updated resume, and relevant samples of your work. Listed below are a few tips for things to include that help your chances for an interview, and ultimately a position with us:

Cover Letter

Your application should include a cover letter, which should state:

- who you are
- what position you are applying for
- why you'd like to work with us.

This gives us a chance to understand your desires, your personality and your suitability for the position. It should highlight your skills, but allow your resume to fill in the details. One page maximum is requested. We appreciate good writing skills, so take your time with this.

Resume

Your resume should provide us all the detailed information about you. We need to know:

- Basic data: name, age, where do you live, contact info
- Studies/education, post-grads, seminars, conferences
- Languages: specific degrees, years, etc.
- Skills: communication, software, programming packages, art packages, etc.
- Relevant professional experience: years, company and position

It should convey what your goals are, your experience and how you can help us fulfill the position that we're looking for. Targeting the resume for the position you're applying for is highly recommended. The interviewing process will allow you to expand more about yourself, so keep your resume short, one to three pages ideally.

Submission Materials

Artists

We appreciate samples of your work. As such, send models, sound files, short films, etc. We accept digital formats only, so steer away from VHS, etc. Include also pictures of your models and artwork in case there is a version problem. If necessary, please include any relevant web site addresses that contain samples of your work.

For graphics artists, we are especially interested in seeing your best models only, do not send "everything you have" as we are only interested in the best work you can produce. This usually boils down to the best character and the best static mesh you can produce. No high-res modeling / renders with lots of complex lighting, as we're a low-poly, real-time lit company: we do not do million-poly scenes nor do we use the advanced lighting effects available for artists in rendering packages. What we need to see, for each of these "top" models, is:

- Pictures of the model fully shaded with texture on. If very detailed, send several taken from different angles.
- Picture of the model in wireframe, with the result of a Polygon Counter tool in the same shot, so we see the result and the polygons you used.
- Picture of the texture.

This is more than enough for the trained eye to see the kind of results we can expect from you. Add pictures of the concept if you believe they support your work, but make sure the final file (a ZIP with everything inside) does not exceed 1Mb.

For animators, we like to see short AVI files with animation loops, so we see characters move around. We prefer several short files with very good animation over one long AVI with lots of boring parts. Compress to 320x240 or so, and encode with DivX so we can download it quickly. If it's longer than 1-2Mb, post them to a web site and we will look at them there.

Programmers

We strongly encourage providing sample code for candidates. The code should be written in C and/or C++ and must NOT be copyrighted material unless you own the copyright and acknowledge that we may look at it for the purposes of evaluating you as a prospective employee. Please include both the source and precompiled versions. Finally, try to make the code sent relevant for the position you’re applying to: tool programmers should focus on level editors, tech programmers on graphics, etc.

Designers

We encourage you to include sample design material relating to the position. For level designers, include sample levels with all elements: level design, monster placement, dialogs, etc. Include also a sample of your writing, such as a narrative scene. One or two pages at most.

* PLEASE NOTE - We cannot return any materials submitted with your resume. DO NOT send originals of your work lest you wish to never see them again.
